Ochre & Dust

Aku created this work in response to making several trips out to the

central desert of Australia at the invitation of Nura Ward, Senior Law

woman of the Anangu/Pitjantjatjara community. This multi media work

featured Anangu storytellers Nura Ward and Nellie Patterson along with

Ruth Anangka and Lizzie Ellis as interpreters.

The primary collaborators were sculptor Fiona Foley (set), Heidrun Lohr

(photographs), with Joanne Willmott and Neil Simpson, produced by

Marguerite Pepper. It played at the Perth, Adelaide and the South  Pacific

Festival in Noumea, New Caledonia as well as Alice Springs, Darwin and

Brisbane.
